chocolate donut recipe,
Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c. buttermilk (or regular milk + 1/2 tsp. vinegar)
1 large egg
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp of cacao powder
3-4 tbsp of milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut for topping
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
2. Make the Donut Batter:
Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk or milk with vinegar mixture, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix. The batter will be thick.
3. Pipe the Batter:
Transfer batter to a piping bag or to a plastic zip-top bag with tip cut off.Pipe batter into the greased donut pan, filling each mold about 3/4 of the way full.
4. Bake the Donuts:
Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.Place the donuts in the pan, cooling them for 5 minutes. Transfer the donuts to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Make the Chocolate Glaze:
In a medium bowl, whisk until smooth: powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract. If too thick, add a little more milk (1 tbsp at a time) until desired consistency is achieved.
6. Glaze the Donuts:
Dip the top of each donut that have been cooled into the glaze and then transfer onto wire rack again. Sprinkle with your favorite toppings, if desired: sprinkles, nuts, coconut.
